This is where we'll compile a list of answers to questions that we frequently get asked.

How Long Are Sessions?

One-on-one sessions are 45 minutes.

Group sessions are 1 hour.

Mini sessions are 20 minutes.

Our preferred methods are Venmo, check, Zelle, or by linking a bank account.

We can also send an invoice that you can pay via credit card, but that will include a 3% service fee.

Lastly, we accept cash but ask that you have exact change. Ever since 2020, hardly anyone pays with cash anymore so we've stopped keeping it at the center.

Do You Do SAT/Standardized Test Prep?

Short answer: Sort of.

We do not provide an SAT/ACT course. For that, we partner with Crimson Review. We've had several of our students use their services and have gotten great feedback.

We DO help with improvement in specific subjects. For example, if you've taken the SAT and need to improve your math score, we can help with that. Or if you're taking a private school entrance exam and you already know which areas need improvement, we can help there.

Our primary focus is helping students improve their school grades. We felt that there were enough good test prep centers in the area that we prefer to stick with what we do best.

Do You Offer Discounts? How Do We Keep The Cost Down?

How blunt of you. We appreciate that. And yes, we do offer discounts and ways to minimize the cost. Here are some ways to do that.

Set up a weekly time: We have a "weekly time" rate and an "as needed" rate. If you set up a weekly, in-person time with any tutor other than Tim, it drops your price (usually $10). All of our tutors rates are listed next to their availability.
Multiple weekly times: If you need 2 or more in-person weekly sessions, it will drop the price another $5 per session for all tutors other than Tim.
Online discount: If you prefer working from home, we'll reward your laziness with a discount. You can see everyone's online rates next to their availability.
Off peak with Tim: If you're able to tutor between 9:30 - 3:00, Monday - Friday, we'll knock off $10 from the normal price (online or in person).
Group sessions and mini sessions: While these aren't technically discounts, they're a great way to keep the cost down. Group sessions are $40 for an hour (up to 3 people), and mini sessions are $20. They can be a great tool for anyone who knows what they want to work on and just wants to get down to business.

How Do The Group Sessions Work?

Group sessions are lessons that up to 3 people can join. The tutor will rotate between students and help each one individually for a few minutes. While that student is trying problems on their own, the tutor will move to the next student.

You do not need to be in the same class as other students in the group. Again, this is more of a "splitting-time-one-on-one-session" than an actual group. Each student will still get one on one time with the tutor. The main difference is that they'll be working on problems independently between explanations.

How Do We Get Started?

The first thing to do is create an account. You can do that under the New Students page. Once you're in the system, it will allow you to schedule individual and group sessions.

Next, we need to figure out what the best plan is for your needs. You can see the options we offer on our packages page. You're also welcome to text, email, or call and we can discuss options.
